The Morrison, Dublin

As a Dubliner myself, I don't have much call to stay in Dublin hotels - I already have a place to sleep. But if I ever win a weekend in The Morrison, I won't be giving it away. This is quite simply one of my favourite spaces/places in the city.
Designers Douglas Wallace took an 18th century Georgian townhouse and added a modern but restrained facade facing the Liffey. But their masterstroke was in bringing in internationally acclaimed fashion designer John Rocha to look after the interior. as with all of Rocha's work, the Japanese influence is everywhere, but tinged and mingled with the best of European design. Soft, suppliant leathers, natural woods and clean lines of white plasterwork, a colour scheme of white, black and brown, and lots and lots of candle give an impression of feng shui chic that really works. The attention to pampered detail is everywhere, from the curved lines of the bedroom entrances to the public toilets and the almost, but not quite, accidental paraphernalia that adorns the stairs and landings. I've brought several visitors into The Morrison just for coffee and they always leave awestruck.
Accommodation
94 bedrooms and suites, all uniquely furnished in comfortable and calm textures and colours. These are spaces so relaxing you'll want to meditate. Television. VCR, data ports, two telephones with voicemail private bar and safe are all standard. The en suite bathrooms have limestone floors and mosaic tiles.
According to the staff I've spoken to, the attention to detail is carried through to the welcome and service each guest receives from the moment of their arrival.
Facilities
Halo is one of Dublin's finest restaurants, and certainly one of the most sublime. Spacious and airy, with exquisite food prepared by head chef Jean-Michel Poulot from the finest Irish ingredients, fresh herbs and spices.
The Morrison Bar is great for a daytime tryst or an evening get-together. Calm lighting, most of it from candles, and un-get-out-of-able sofas and armchairs. You'd be better off standing!
Lobo is a late night bar and night club open until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Set on different levels, it's one of the hotspots of the city. It's also available for private hire for parties of up to 100 people.
