The Clarence Hotel, Dublin

The Clarence, Dublin
starstarstarstar

Built in 1852, The Clarence used to be one of those sedate old hotels frequented by commercial travellers and day-tripping families in Dublin for Christmas shopping. In 1996 however, it was purchased by a consortium including some of the members of U2 and refurbished to become one of the top boutique hotels in Dublin, home-from-home of the ultra-chic.

If you can afford it, The Penthouse in The Clarence is THE place to stay in Dublin; its carpets have been trod upon by more stars and celebs than a red carpet on Oscar night. Even if The Penthouse is beyond your budget (and if its not then your agent is probably reading this site for you), any stay in The Clarence is guaranteed to make your visit to Dublin something special.

Fronting onto the River Liffey and rere-ing, if that's the word, onto Temple Bar, The Clarence's location puts you right at the centre of things, just a five minute walk from Grafton Street, O'Connell Street, Trinity College or Christchurch and Dublin Castle.

Accommodation

All rooms in The Clarence are stylishly appointed with original artwork and specially commissioned furniture in oak, leather and stone. King-sized beds with crisp linen, satellite television and VCR, fax and internet connection, mini-bar, private safe and hairdryer are all standard. As well as 24 hour room service, there is a valet service and valet parking available to guests.

Facilities

The Tea Room Restaurant is one of the finest in Dublin, serving innovative Irish cuisine - the kind of place where you watch the tables around you for faces known from the papers or from the screen.

The Octagon Bar is a popular gathering place for Dublin's business set, especially on Friday evenings. For seclusion, guests can avail of The Study, where they can write or read in comfort beside an open fire.

For the working traveller, The Clarence provides business services and a number of function/meeting rooms, with banqueting facilities for 140 people.

A new gymnasium and beauty treatment room were opened in 2003.
