Ashling Hotel, Dublin
starstarstar

If you're the type of person who likes 3 star comfort that is close to the action but not actually in the thick and noise of it, then the Ashling Hotel has the perfect location.

Situated on a quite road just off the upriver end of the quays, the Ashling avoids the hubbub of the city centre. However, a pleasant 25 minute stroll down the river will bring you to O'Connell Street, Temple Bar, Christchurch or Dublin Castle.

Alternatively, since the Ashling is directly across the river from Heuston Station, Dublin's mainline station for the west and south, there is a regular service of both buses and taxis along the quays to and from the city centre.

An added bonus is that the Ashling is one of only a very few hotels close to the Phoenix Park. Said to be the largest enclosed city park in Europe, with its own native herd of deer, the park is also home to Dublin Zoo, the official residence of the President of Ireland - Áras an Uachtaráin; - and the US Ambassador's residence. All this just minutes away from the hotel.

Accommodation

150 en suite rooms mean that the Ashling has a good reputation for catering for groups. Some years back I met a club in Coventry who visited Dublin every year and told me they would not dream of staying anywhere else. All rooms are equipped as standard with cable TV, direct dial telephones, trouser presses, hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities.

For families, interconnecting rooms are available and some rooms have been adapted to cater for disabled guests. You should notify the hotel of any special requirements.

Eating & Drinking

Cobblestones Bistro serves Irish breakfasts, carvery lunches and a full evening dinner menu each day. Bar food is available all day i9n the Guinness, a popular rendezvous with locals and business people.

Outside, Parkgate Street contains several fine pubs, not least Ryans, one of Dublin's oldest and best-known landmark Victorian pubs. If you're coming to Dublin for an authentic Pub experience, make sure to pay a visit.
