Hotels and Accommodation in Dublin, Ireland

A bedroom in The Morgan

Welcome to the Dublin Hotels section of Living Dublin. As with other information on this site, the hotel reviews offered here are the personal opinions of Dubliners, offered as a guide for visitors to Dublin, and are not the opinion of the hotels themselves.

This does not claim to be a comprehensive list of hotels in Dublin, but a selection of our favourite Dublin hotels, or just ones we're familiar with. If we have an experience of a hotel in Dublin or in the Dublin area, we'll let you know. In time we hope to review a wide range of Dublin hotels in all accommodation brackets.

We are not affiliated with any hotel, nor are we a hotel booking agency. The phone numbers and links on this site are for agencies based in Dublin, who will be able to advise you on your accommodation needs and choice of Dublin hotel. Or you can book directly with the hotels themselves.

Renovations at the Ormond Quay Hotel

June: I note in passing that the Ormond Quay Hotel is also closed for renovations at the moment. I don't know what their plans are or when they are due to reopen. As soon as I hear anything, I'll let you know here.

The Shelbourne closes its doors

Friday 25 March: One of Dublin's best known hotels, The Shelbourne, today closed its doors to allow for an extensive 40 million euro refurbishment programme.

The hotel, which was purchased by a consortium of Irish investors a few months ago, is currently managed by the Mariott Hotel Group. It is expected that it will reopen in September 2006.

Hotels from A . . .

Hotel Abbey is one of the most popular budget hotels in Dublin. Ideally located in the city centre, it has a loyal following amongst regular tourists seeking a cheap hotel rate. We went to have a look.

. . . to W

The Westin Dublin is a 5-star luxury hotel occupying a city block opposite Trinity College. A landmark hotel in Dublin since its opening a couple of years ago, I got a good look at it during some friends' wedding there.

April: More news on The Westin. The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar there has just reopened as a brasserie and cocktail bar, with a new menu. According to Paul Dunphy, the hotel's assistant manager, "We have noticed an increasing demand from our customers for an option to enjoy a simpler more brasserie-style menu particularly at lunchtime". In keeping with the menu, the new look has an art decor theme.
